Taba and Taba Heights

On the Egyptian side of the 1949-agreed armistice line was Taba. Israel temporarily captured it during the Suez Crisis in but gave it back to Egypt after their withdrawal. After the 1967 Six-Day War, Israel reclaimed the Sinai Peninsula, and Taba saw the construction of a 400-room hotel. Israel argued that Taba had been on the Ottoman side of a boundary agreed upon between the Ottomans and British Egypt in 1906 and had, therefore, been by mistake in its two earlier agreements when Egypt and Israel were debating the exact position of the border. An international committee made up of one Israeli, one Egyptian, and three foreigners were appointed to investigate the matter following a protracted debate.

Pharaoh's Island, one of the most photographed locations in the area, is located close off the shore and a few miles south of Taba.

You will be in charge of your quad with a throaty engine tone and the road driven through the canyon walls after a safety briefing and some mild instruction. The stillness is breathtaking when you pause for a break and a cool drink midway through your journey.

To round off the ideal day, return home for a revitalizing shower to wash the canyon dust away, relax by the pool, and then anticipate the feast of a lifetime.

This magnificent location serves "slow castle food," which entails slow-cooking premium fresh meat and fish in a method that has been refined over generations. Although the deep canyons appear to be dry, they are dependent on heavy rainstorms, rivers, and floods to survive. The area had had a lot more rain and standing water, and it is simple to observe the remnants of previous torrents. Even now, during the brief rainy season, these wadis see the water rushing past them (old valleys or dry river beds). There's more water around than you may imagine, even in the dry summer.

The longest championship hole in Egypt is located on the Taba Heights Golf Course. The 14th hole, which is 640 yards long, is a test for even the finest golfers in the world—and probably you as well! You may play a game of golf on the northernmost point of the Gulf of Aqaba, while the stunning Sinai Mountains and the glistening Red Sea serve as a background.

The club provides driving ranges and top-notch instruction whether you are a complete novice or more experienced, even if you are not yet at the championship level. With rocky outcrops, you'll discover shrubs (typically brooms) with root systems that have evolved to collect and store precious water.
