Luxor is an "ancient City" as many refer to it, history indicates that the city had a rooted religious nature as it was referred to as the city of Amun and later as the city of the gods in the new kingdom of Egypt. The city became the capital and head of all the religious, military, and political aspects of Ancient Egypt. During the 18th to 20th Dynasty, many royalties built temples to honor the gods. The new kingdom comes with a new set of constructions as many royalties desired to immortalize their legacy as it became a tradition for any king or queen during the new kingdom to be laid to rest there. Hence, it's no surprise that Luxor houses 20 royal tombs which include; the tomb of Tutankhamun, Thutmose III, Ramses the great, and many others. The city of Luxor is located on the east bank of the Nile River, to the south of Upper Egypt

Luxor has oftentimes times referred to as the "greatest open-air museum in the world",  at the West bank we have the Valley of the Kings, Valley of the Queens, Medinet Habu (memorial temple of Ramesses III), Deir el-Medina (workers' village), The Ramesseum (memorial temple of Ramesses II), Tombs of the Nobles, Al-Asasif cemetery and many others amazing sites, and while the East bank is home to the Karnak temple and some fascinating centers that attract tourists to Luxor.

You can get to Luxor city through the following ways;

By plane: Although it isn't a large city, there is an international airport close to the city. You can also get daily flights from Cairo.
 

By bus: You don't like to fly? Don't worry, although it is a long ride if you can take the night bus save yourself some money and time.
 

By boat: You can start your exploration from Aswan and take a boat cruise on the Nile to Luxor. 
By train: If you don't want to fly or take the bus you can get yourself the sleeper train from Cairo and enjoy your journey through the night.
 

The best period to visit Luxor City is from March to April and between October and November —the winter period. These seasons offer wonderful temperatures and no crowd. The best time to visit a tourist center is early in the morning and this is not an exception in Luxor — go see and enjoy the beautiful weather, sunset, sunrise, and beautiful drawings of untold stories in the early hours of the day.  Luxor city for years has been known as one of the most beautiful wonders of the world holding great mysteries. visiting this wonderful place with families and friends would spice your adventure.
