Let’s get started with your Egypt food tour:
First of all, wear comfortable shoes (E.g.: Running shoes or so) to be able to walk with maximum comfort. Also wear clothes made from comfortable airy materials (E.g.: Cotton) in case your Egypt’s food tour is in summer.
If you are in winter, layering clothes is the best as it can be quiet warm in the afternoons but cold in the evenings.
On the day of your Egypt’s food tour, it’s recommended to skip lunch and come hungry, don’t worry you will be full and if you’re not, you can add more of it, most street Egyptian food is affordable.

What to eat in Egypt food tour?
Koshary:
The most popular famous Egyptian dish, simply, it’s a mix of white rice, brown lentils and macaroni, fried onions, chickpeas and a spicy tomato sauce.
This dish will make you fall in love with Egypt’s food culture and want to eat more of it, but we guarantee you that only one dish will make you feel really full.
Recommended Koshary Restaurant:
Abou Tarek is the most famous Koshary restaurant in Cairo, located in Downtown area (Champollion Street). Consisted of 4 floors and the service is outstanding and professional.

Fool and Falafel:
One of the most popular street food snack in Egypt, Fool is a dish of mashed broad (fava) beans flavored with garlic and olive oil. It is cooked in large copper pots. Falafel is another very unique Egyptian street food, sometimes called also (Tamiya). It is made with mashed fava beans and parsley (different from Falafel made of chickpeas, which are related elsewhere around the Mediterranean). It is made in the shape of flat discs or round balls and is eaten as a sandwich with salad.

Kebab and Kofta:
Flame-grilled hunks of lamb called (kebab). (kofta) is spiced minced meat made like a sausage shape and grilled on a metal skewer. This is a very famous and delicious Egyptian dish. It is usually eaten with chopped tomato and cucumber salad and brown bread or white rice.

Some tips to take into consideration:
When we mention safety while navigating Cairo, Downtown Cairo is generally very safe even until 12-1 AM. People are very friendly and tourists are welcomed with warmness.
It’s crucial to stay alert as you would in any city around the world you visit like avoiding walking in dark alleyways, take care of your stuff as there are sometimes pick-pocketing more common in crowded places.
Also from the scams that are common in Egypt is the Helpful Stranger. Someone who’s trying to help you but actually he’s trying to take money by making useless services to you. Don’t hesitate to say (No!) in a firm way which works perfectly in that case.
For the clothing, it’s recommended to stay away from certain types of clothing (eg. crop tops, hot shorts, mini skirts, low-cut tops …) to prevent unwanted attention or comments on the streets. You don’t have to wear extremely closed clothes or so, a balanced outfit will just do fine. Hope you enjoy Egypt Food Tour!
